Six prominent theaters in the Ruhr Metropolis have been invited along with the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 European authors to tell anew Homer's famous epic poetry to: Grzegorz Jarzyna, Péter Nádas, Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Christoph Ransmayr, Enda Walsh and Roland Schimmelpfennig.
The participating theaters over the course of Feb 27th/28th, March 6th/7th, 13th/14th & April 2nd/3rd 2010 bring the pieces together for your pleasure. On weekends, the other four episodes are linked to a great overall story. Here, visitors are greeted to a tour of a special kind staged on the journey from theater to theater, a surprising change of perspective: A moment ago we were sitting mid-floor, row nine, the next minute we walk through the backstage, leaving the theater, the city and our location as a viewer. Unexpected areas, pathways and transitions transform the theater. The moved angle brings new details to light.
The odyssey begins....
